History of Myanmar
Introduced in 1885, coffee cultivation in Myanmar progressed gradually over the next fifty years. Recent years witnessed a surge in focus on the coffee trade as the Myanmar economy opened up. Collaborations between private entities, NGOs, and growers improved agronomy and harvesting. Investments in milling and education fostered a burgeoning specialty coffee industry. The highlands' climate, characterized by hot days and cool nights, provides an ideal environment for coffee cultivation, especially well-suited for natural processing given the predictable dry and hot weather during harvest season.
