In 2009, the Muungano cooperative was established, bringing together approximately 4,400 smallholder farmers, with a significant representation of women. Their shared mission focuses on gender justice and inclusivity, integrating farmers from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The name "Muungano" signifies "Togetherness" in Swahili, reflecting their collaborative spirit. Through their dedicated efforts, they produce annually a remarkable range of sweet, bright, and complex coffees.
